3T will tour the UK for the first time in 17 years later this year, when they perform on the 2014 Big Reunion Tour.
3T Talk Touring, New Music And Memories Of Uncle Michael
Taj, TJ and Taryll recently performed in London for the ITV special, alongside bands likes Damage, Eternal and a1, which marked their first stage performance in Britain for several years.
The band performed hits like Anything and I Need You, at the Hammersmith Apollo which featured several photographs of the band's late Uncle Michael on the giant screens, resulting in thousands of fans rising to their feet for an emotional standing ovation.
I caught with the band last month, in London, to talk about the Big Reunion and their return to music and also discussed their late, great Uncle.
June 25th 2014 also marks five years since the band lost an Uncle and the world lost the King of Pop, aged just 50. You can probably remember where you were, when you heard the tragic news? It's a day none of us can forget. None more so, that the Jackson family.
3T told me that the day will, understandably be very difficult.
"The last several years we've been with our cousins on that day, it's a tough day and you never know really..in the first couple of years after he passed we took them out of town to get away from everything and all the paparazzi. But it's slowed down a little bit which has been great but we don¹t know what we're going to do on that day yet. But it's really tough. We lost our mother when we we young and for any of you that have lost a parent, it's very very tough, as there's a hole in you and you're never ever the same person. And for them it's even harder because he was everything to them. But they're as good as they can. We're trying the best we can to strengthen them..but it's hard living under a microscope; almost a bubble."
The nephews also opened up about the recent Michael Jackson album Xscape (released last month by Sony Music) and the current hit single and radio favourite "Love Never Felt So Good." TJ added "I'm happy that there's new music for fans to discover and hear. But it's very important for fans to know what condition the music was in and that it didn't get the final stamp from my Uncle, that's all. But I'm very happy that he's No.1 in over 50 countries. It's great."
Taryll also added "I like hearing his voice on the radio again.."
And in terms of new music from 3T, well it looks like we'll be hearing more soon. The band released a lyric video for new song "Forever Girl" which showcased those amazing vocals and 3T sound perfect for 2014 ears. TJ excitedly told me "Forever Girl is pretty much a sneak peak of what's coming as it's got live instruments, a lot of vocals and a lot of fans have said it's got that 3T sound..so we're pretty much happy with the feedback from fans. And we released it in memory of our late Mother.."
The band also talked to me about their Grandmother Katherine, Father Tito and why they're still adjusting to social media in 2104.
Catch the band on The Big Reunion Tour which starts in Sheffield on October 17th in Sheffield. More here itv.com/thebigreunion/the-big-reunion-2014/the-big-reunion-tour
