Amelia Lily has told me that her debut album will remind fans that she's 'not just a one-trick pony.'
Amelia Lily "I'm Not Just A One Trick Pony"
The 17 year old singer, who came 3rd on last year's X Factor is currently promoting her debut single "You Bring Me Joy" which is the lead track from her forthcoming, as yet untitled album expected in November.
Talking to me in central London, Amelia told me "I want the album to appeal to everyone, I want there to be something for everyone on there.I don't want to be predictable. Everyone has their own individuality on the X-Factor, which is what makes it good a show. But I am an edgy artist- a girly-girl with a lot of edge. But I need to show people again that I'm not just a rock chick…I can sing a variety of songs."
Amelia also confessed to me that former X Factor judge and mentor Kelly Rowland recently called her up, after Amelia shot the video for "You Bring Me Joy" out in LA. "Kelly told me that she will always have my back and she'll always be there for support, which is amazing to hear."
Coming 3rd on The X Factor can bring it's own rewards- just look at One Direction. So has their success in America inspired Amelia? "You know what, when I was in LA, I thought to myself that I could do this. I could even see myself moving out there one day, so yeah I'd love to go to America with my music. Just look at One Direction, they came third and now they're selling out Madison Square Gardens and I'm like, that's my dream so maybe one day, fingers crossed.."
Amelia also revealed that she's a fan of the new Little Mix single "Wings" ( I'm so proud of them) and confirmed to me that she'd love to record with Katy Perry, amongst others.
"I'd love to duet with Katy Perry, Rihanna and Pink. And maybe Kings of Leon or even a band like a Paramore, who I've grown up listening to. But yeah, I'm a ridiculously big fan I've Kay Perry; like a massive girl crush it's quite disturbing really ha!"
