Ne-Yo Sees R.E.D

All round entertainer Ne-Yo launched his new album at London's Hospital Club last night.

The mutli-million selling singer-songwriter played tracks from his 5th studio album, R.E.D, to a room full of industry guests and even introduced the tracks himself. The 32 year old told us 'with this album I wanted to step back and reflect on everything I've done since I started playing music at the age of 9.'

The 'Beautiful Monster' star also revealed that he intended to create an album that would appeal both his pop and r'n'b fans and also revealed that lyrically, the record is his most honest and personal to date.

Stand out tracks for me included the r'n'b reflective joint It Should Be You, Beatles' influenced Alone With You and bass and beat heavy dance jam 'Unconditional.'

Ne-Yo also revealed that daughter Madison helped inspire his decision to release Alone With You, after the song was dropped from his 2011 Libra Scale. "I played this to my daughter when she days old and wouldn't stop crying and screaming. I tried everything to calm her until this song came up on ipod shuffle and she instantly stopped. So I call it Maddie's song and you know what, I think Paul McCartney would be proud of this one as I love love The Beatles...'

But the stand out track was Ne-Yo's anthemic new single Let Me Love You which gets released soon and received it's first airplay earlier this week.'

Rising UK star Conor Maynard was also at the playback as the pair recently collaborated in studio on a track for Conor's forthcoming album 'Contrast.' It was good to chat to both Ne-Yo and Conor afterwards, after conducting one of Ne-Yo's first UK radio interviews back in 2005.
