As I type this, I'm sinking coffee by the mugful after staying up all night watching the Oscars. Well, it has to be done!
Oscars, BRITs, Whitney And More
For the record, I thought Billy Crystal did well as host but it would be interesting to see Eddie Murphy holding court. Unsurprising but brilliant to see The Artist win the big awards including Best Film. I remember watching it at an early screening last year and immediately thinking 'I need to see it again,' so if you haven't seen yet, go. Best Actor winner Jean and co-star Bereneice were both amazing interviewees, although I wish I'd paid more attention during A Level French!
As for the Seacrest-Sacha Baron-Cohen red carpet stunt...! Well, it got us all talking and the film isn't even out for months.
Speaking of the red carpet, so last week I was in position one at the Brits for Capital, back at my second home of the 02! Now the Brits is my favourite event of the year. Prior to arriving at our amazing backstage studio, complete with cupcakes and champers, I'd appeared on Sky News talking Adele and filmed for Channel 5 News' Military Wives Brits report. And if the camera had stayed rolling, you would've seen me completely fall tit over arse onto concrete in a public street, wearing my Brits suit all thanks to my new slippy shoes. Ouch. But hey what's a bruised buttock or two, all in the name of showbiz, right?!
Okay so back the 02. Brits night is mad, eventful and long as I basically spend 12 hours chasing artists and running round backstage. I was there when Rihanna came off stage to receive a massive hug from Kylie, heard Adele's vocal exercises, listened in as Noel Gallagher chatted to Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran beamed with his two awards and stood by as George Michael was rushed to the stage as a surprise guest. Oh and let's just say that James Corden wasn't best pleased with his order to cut Adele's speech short which became the story of the night. Of course Adele spoke to us backstage to explain her middle finger gesture 'to the suits of the Brits' but I was more excited to see her win the big two, sporting a big smile. What an amazing year so it was rather nice when she gave me a quick wink after leaving the press room saying 'of course I'm going to bleeding celebrate.' And then I went off to the parties. Well it would've been rude not to have gone..! See my Brits red carpet videos at capitalfm.com.
The next day I took a last minute call to appear on the couch on ITV1 This Morning talking all things Brits with Philip Schofield and Emma Willis. Naturally, I was honoured to finally sit on that iconic couch, sharing the paper review slot with Pamela Stephenson. Amazing team work on the show, so great to meet them all. You can watch me here but just remember that I'd had less than four hours sleep..!
And on the night of the Brits I also appeared on Channel 5's Whitney Houston documentary 'Death of a Diva'. How amazing that her music went back to number one worldwide. I still can't believe she's gone.
What else? Well I had a great night out at Katherine Jenkins end of tour London show. I also met her co-star Nathan Pacheco too; look out for him. I also loved the Singing in the Rain press night. The musical is now on at London's Palace Theatre and go see but prepare to get a little bit wet, if you're sitting on the front five rows!
Dappy came back into Capital, so we had a good chat about his new single Rockstar and forthcoming album. I also heard his new single Ying Yang. It's HUGE, trust me!
Oh and on Friday I attended the BBC1 press launch for The Voice UK. I got to interview my Welsh hero Sir Tom (he always remembers me!) Jessie J, Danny from The Script and Will.I.am for the second time in a week. I can't say too much but I was seriously impressed by what I saw.
All that and Wales beat England in the rugby!
Oh and have a listen to my Mick Jagger impression as recorded for my international radio show...
Right, pass the coffee. Have a good week. Oh and Happy St Davids Day for Thursday!
